Pickers gathering saffron crocus by hand in the fields at Pampore, Kashmir

Traceability

Every pack says where it came from.

A batch code on the base of the pack ties the contents to one village, one harvest and one laboratory report. This page is where you look it up.

Traceability

From the tree to the pack, in six steps.

Every pack carries a batch code. This page says what that code means, who grew what is inside, and what the laboratory looked for.

Batch lookup

Every pack is stamped with a batch code on the base: the product, the pack size, and the month it was filled. The lookup opens with the coming harvest, once the laboratory reports for those batches are back. Until then, send us a photograph of the base of your pack and we will trace it by hand.

01

Picked

The grower harvests when the crop is ready, not when an order comes in. We agree the price before the season starts.

02

Bought at the gate

Payment is made in the village, in the week of the harvest, directly to the family or the self-help group.

03

Sorted by hand

Grading is done by hand at the collection point. Broken kernels and undersized fruit are separated out and sold on, not packed.

04

Tested

A sample from every lot goes to an FSSAI-notified laboratory. Nothing is packed before the report comes back.

05

Vacuum-packed and dated

Sealed inside the pack so it keeps the freshness it had at the farm gate, and stamped with the batch code: the product, the pack size and the month it was filled.

06

Sold until it runs out

When the year's lot is finished the product goes out of stock and stays there until the next harvest.
