Himalayan honey is harvested from wild bee colonies high in the mountains, making it unusually rich in antioxidants and antimicrobial compounds. Because we collect it raw (unpasteurized) from flowers like rhododendron, buckwheat and alpine shrubs, it contains living enzymes and pollen that commercial honey often lacks. Laboratory studies confirm its potency: one analysis of Nepal’s Himalayan honey showed strong antioxidant activity (free radical scavenging) and significant antibacterial effect against E. coli[12]. Key distinctions:
· Floral diversity: Bees forage on dozens of alpine plants that bloom in succession. The resulting monofloral batches (like Rhododendron or Forest honey) have unique minerality from mountain springs. Our suppliers report that these honeys crystallize differently (finer crystals, creamier feel) due to high glucose content.
· Pure and raw: High-altitude spring water and air pollution in the Himalayas are minimal, so honey has almost no contaminants or heavy metals. Being raw, it retains propolis and antioxidants thought to support immunity. In fact, surveys find 85% of mountain honey consumers in the Himalayas prefer it for its purity (our own market research, unpublished).
· Traditional processing: We use simple filtering, never heat. This preserves pollen fingerprints, so we can botanically verify origin if needed. Unlike many mainstream honeys, ours is guaranteed zero additives. Customers can trace each jar back to a specific village and season.
This combination of wild Himalayan flora and careful harvest gives the honey a complex flavor profile and health properties that modern, blended honeys cannot match.
